I. REFOCUS

It's Sunday evening. I cannot sleep. After sleep walking through cupcakes like Lamar and South Carolina State, the real season...the season where our money is made...that season is nigh.

Today's song is "No Church in the Wild".

I picked this song for two reasons. 1) The beat is just too grimy. I mean listen to that damn bass line. Tell me it doesn't make you want to LINE UP AND HIT SOMEONE IN THE DAMN MOUTH. TELL ME IT DOESN'T MAKE YOU WANT TO APPROACH SATURDAY WITH HATE IN YOUR HEARTS.

Secondly, the opening lyrics summarize where we are right now:

Human beings in a mob
What’s a mob to a king?
What’s a king to a god?
What’s a god to a non-believer?
Who don’t believe in anything?

That's where we are. We might have hype. We might have wins. But what good are those wins to non-believers? And let me tell you, there are plenty of non-believers out there. And what good are our four wins against Arkansas?

Nothing matters. All that matters is going 1-0. It's about us. It's about proving ourselves. IT'S ABOUT PLAYING OUR DAMN GAME AND DOING WHAT WE DO BEST. NOTHING ELSE MATTERS. NOT A DAMN THING. IT'S ABOUT HAVING HATE IN OUR HEARTS AND MALICE IN OUR BONES. WE PLAY FAST. WE PLAY PHYSICAL. AND WE MAKE BELIEVERS OUT OF THE DOUBTERS. WEEK IN AND WEEK OUT.

II. KNOW YOUR ENEMY

It's Tuesday morning. Let's get to know our enemy. And while we're at it, let's focus on that grimy beat from "No Church in the Wild".  No lyrics necessary. Feel the bass line. Let it soak through you. We are grimy. We are gully. WE ARE NOT JUST FINESSE. WE HIT YOU IN THE MOUTH AND LOOK DAMN GOOD DOING IT.

Think back on that moment. There are others, but I'll let that simmer.

Numbers don't matter this week. This isnt about individual performances. The only number that matters is 1. ONE TEAM. ONE FOCUS. ONE MISSION. ONE AND 0 AT THE END OF THIS WEEKEND.
