Senior Spotlights 2013

Celebrating the seniors from 2013-2014

Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

Howdy, folks. It's March, #SECBasketballFever is fading, and spring football is underway. That means it's time for one last look back at the seniors on the 2013-2014 team.

This group has had an interesting career trajectory: starting with a pretty dominant 2010 run through the Big 12, and ending on an emotional night in Atlanta four years later. They went to four straight bowl games, and won three in a row. They have faced LSU more times than Texas. They all but solidified the transition to the SEC.

Last year's Senior Spotlights can be found here.

This year's group of seniors was a small but tightly-knit group. From the core group of team captains in Jake Matthews, Ben Malena, and Toney Hurd, Jr. down to guys like Nate Askew (who was asked to change positions as a senior), these guys provided quiet, stable leadership in the wake of the wild 2012 season that saw the departure of so many important players.

Over the next couple of weeks we'll be profiling each of the senior players. We're even researching the rumors that Travis Labhart may have been a scout player for the Women's Basketball team, so stay tuned!
