Outside of sophomore Darian Claiborne, next year's starting linebackers are anybody's guess. After signing a very large group at the position in the last recruiting cycle, the Aggies add a pair that excel at playing in space and getting to the quarterback. A&M is also still chasing a guy to anchor the middle in a few years.

Jeff Banks and Mark Hagen were able to make a big splash when they got Texas A&M back in the race for Cy Falls outside linebacker Otaro Alaka in January. The Aggies originally finished in second place to the Texas Longhorns but the retirement of Mack Brown changed all that. After visiting both finalists one last time, Alaka flipped his commitment to Texas A&M. 247Sports.com Composite has the consensus four-star as the 11th best outside 'backer in the class and #18 overall player in Texas. Alaka chose the Ags over almost twenty other offers from programs such as Texas, LSU, Arkansas, Florida State, and Oklahoma to name a few.
The Aggies' second commitment at the position is Gilmer running back and outside linebacker Josh Walker. Walker was actually Kevin Sumlin's first pledge in this class, shutting down his recruitment back in October of 2012 over early offers from Texas, Oklahoma, and Texas Tech. The 6'1" 220-pounder is also a consensus four-star and ranked as the #20 outside linebacker in the country according to 247Sports.com Composite.
Still In The Mix
The one thing missing from this linebacker class is a true inside MIKE. All Aggie hopes to fill this position fall on New Orleans native Kenny Young. The 6'2" 220 pound four-star is thought to have a top three consisting of Texas A&M, UCLA, and the hometown LSU Tigers. Young is the #7 rated inside linebacker and #175 player overall in the 247Sports.com Composite ranking. He has close to two dozen offers across the country from schools such as Alabama, Florida State, Nebraska, Michigan, and Notre Dame.
