"Everyday at lunch in high school and all my senior, I'd drink my Coca-Cola with a touch of Everclear. Never had to study math, science, or history, I'd have a chemical flashback to jog my memory." -Roger Creager

Clear Mind. Full Heart. Can't lose--Except someone has to lose, so really this doesn't always work. Today marks the final day of high school football with 5A DI, 6A DII, and 6A DI championship games starting from 12 pm to 8 pm tonight. While all games prove to make any Texan spirited, this year's biggest game brings back Allen High School's star player and committed, committed, committed Aggie recruit, Kyler Murray. Allen comes into the final game with an unblemished record against the two loss Cy-Ranch making Allen the favored team. However this is high school football which is run on heart and dreams, so anything could happen. Below is today's schedule with all games being aired on Fox Sports Southwest.

  • 5A Division I 12 pm: Aledo vs Temple
  • 6A Division II 4 pm: Cedar Hill vs Katy
  • 6A Division I 8 pm: Allen vs Cy-Ranch

Well. Right, That's Shifty. Turns out that Texas A&M does not own the slogan WRTS (We Run This State for those who are now realizing that you should have done this first). Turns out, non-Aggie Daylon Mack's family took the opportunity to trademark a phrase from the team their son was planning on attending. Now that Mack has turned away from A&M, perhaps they will release the phrase or we can watch a battle royale with Jason Cook and the Aggie lawyers at the helm. I might have a preference.

He still loves us. Defensive end Texas A&M commit James Lockhart took a great win last night for Ennis against Cedar Park. After the 5A DII championship, he confirmed that he is staying with the Aggies and Coach Sumlin despite the sky falling yesterday. Glad to hear that, now if we can get everyone else to reaffirm their commitment, it might make us feel better, but probably not. Carry on with your high school frolicking (I think that's what kids do now these days). Congratulations, James and Ennis High School!

Oh! Basketball! Sorry, high school football leaves me inspired and distracted. Kinda makes my mind more cloudy than clear, really. I think that phrase has some holes in it. Anyway, the Men's Basketball team plays at Kansas State today at 6 pm on ESPNU. House, Robinson and Jones have been playing pretty hot these last few games and K-State is a good challenge for this team. Hopefully our team is taller and more jumpy than the Wildcats.*
