Reports: Texas A&M will add Nebraska Defensive Backs Coach Terry Joseph to staff

With Marcel Yates returning to Boise State, Sumlin and Snyder tab Terry Joseph.

Update 10:43pm 1/4/14: The Lincoln Star Journal reports Saturday evening that Terry Joseph will not decide whether to coach at A&M until he meets with Bo Pelini. They offered these words from Joseph:

"It's not a done deal," Joseph told the Journal Star on Saturday. "They offered me the job. It's a lot of money, but I told Bo I would come back and talk to him before I took the job.

"Now, if you say, 'It's a lot of money and Nebraska isn't going to match it'? Then, yeah, it's a done deal, because that's what it comes down to, getting my contract extended and me getting a lot of money."

Original post:

All signs point to Nebraska secondary coach Terry Joseph being added to the Texas A&M Football staff in the same capacity. Joseph will fill the vacancy left by Marcel Yates after Yates accepted a position at his alma mater, Boise State, on Bryan Harsin's staff.

Joseph has led exceptional secondaries during his two years in Lincoln with this year's unit only surrendering 168 yards per game - 4th best in FBS. The 2012 Husker secondary led the nation in opponent pass completion percentage at 47.1%.

Prior to his stint in Lincoln, Joseph coached under Derek Dooley at Louisiana Tech and Tennessee. The 39-year-old is a Louisiana native and former high school football coach with strong ties to the state's football programs. Joseph will have his work cut out for him in Aggieland as he takes over a pass defense that ranked 86th nationally in 2013. Fortunately, plenty of young talent is either on hand or on the way.
