Students voted in favor of the beveled Texas A&M logo

Student elections closed on September 27th, and there was a referendum to vote on the controversial Texas A&M bevel.

A current Aggie student (@droppinBAUMz) alerted us to an important referendum in this Fall's student elections. Students were asked to proclaim support for either the beveled Texas A&M logo or the classic logo.

Student Election Results

4518 Eligible Ballots

2958 65.47% I support the use of the current beveled Texas A&M logo.
1560 34.53% I support the use of the classic Texas A&M logo.

We also ran our own poll of GBH readers and found a similar level of preference for the classic logo. You can still vote at the bottom of this post.

Good Bull Hunting Poll Results

2036 Respondents

747 36.69% I support the use of the current beveled Texas A&M logo.
1289 63.31% I support the use of the classic Texas A&M logo.

It seems like we are seeing a generational shift in preferences, but for obvious reasons. Current students have been exposed to only the bevel and prefer that as they affiliate it strongly with the Texas A&M brand. Former students who went to school when the classic logo was in use prefer that. It's not rocket agriculture.

Here is a screenshot of the voting screen:

Bevelvote

Confession: I may have started the #BevelUp movement with my Florida GIF last season, but I do prefer the classic logo. I'd check both boxes if allowed because I don't object very strongly to the bevel, especially if people generally like it. I'm a little troubled that they showed the classic logo on a helmet because it makes me think they are considering the bevel on helmets. I don't care for that.
