The e-hysteria about Texas A&M "only being favored by 3 points" at Arkansas has reached the point where a clarifying article is necessary. In a nutshell:
THERE IS NO CURRENT SPREAD ON THE A&M AT ARKANSAS GAME
Those citing the three point spread all point to the VegasInsider page. The only problem? VegasInsider doesn't show any books - either in Vegas or offshore - accepting action on the game. In fact, no books are taking action on it.
If a point spread cannot be bet, then it does not exist. It has as much value as the hot sports takes you hear on your local sports radio station. Which is to say, none at all.
The question marks surrounding Arkansas' starting QB have to be resolved, and then bookmakers will hang a number to bet. Then the sharp bettors will hammer it into place. It may be late this week before that happens. Arkansas at Rutgers wasn't offered until Wednesday or Thursday of last week for that very same reason.
I fully expect A&M to be a double digit favorite for the game, regardless of who Arkansas starts at QB.
