Bowtie night at Reed for Women's Bouncy Ball

We don't know for sure if Johnny and Mike are gone, but we do know that President Loftin is stepping down. Tonight's game against the Aztecs is Dr. R. Bowen Loftin Appreciation Night.

Whatever else he'll be remembered for (SEC! SEC!) Dr. Loftin was not just the most visible sports fan we've had in the President's office; he was a serious fan of Aggie Women's Basketball.  On Coach's radio show last night, Steve Miller recalled his prophetic confidence that the Ags would pull out the win when we were down in the Final Four game against Stanford, and I remember him doing the Dougie with the team and Coach Blair in Indy and at the return celebration after the National Championship.

So, for tonight's women's game against San Diego:

The game is designated as Dr. R. Bowen Loftin Appreciation Night, where the team will honor the school president, who is stepping down from that position in January.

A self-proclaimed "Student's President," all students receive free admission to the game, and the first 1,500 students in attendance receive a bowtie, honoring Dr. Loftin's signature neckwear.

The Aztecs and Ags haven't played in a while but Stacie Terry, their new coach, got a win at Reed arena the last time she visited as an assistant for Nikki Caldwell at LSU.  SDSU is 1-4 coming in but won their last game.  Based on their season box score, the Aztecs are led by 6-4 Senior Center Cierra Warren, while 5-6 Junior point guard Ahjahlee Harvey gets to be the one who Jordan Jones and Curtyce Knox take their frustrations out on from the weekend.  Harvey has 27 turnovers against 8 assists so far. 6-1 Jr Forward Deajanae Scurry leads the team in rebounds.

The coaches haven't had much time to work on corrections since the team got back from the Virgin Islands at around 1 AM on Monday, but it will still be interesting to see what adjustments have been made.

BTHO SDSU!
