It's been a tremendous year for Texas A&M Football. This time last year we were "celebrating" a win in the Meineke/GalleryFurniture.com/Houston Bowl over Northwestern while rife with uncertainty over whether Coach Kevin Sumlin was the right man to lead us into the SEC. We didn't even know who our quarterback would be.Twelve months later, we are celebrating a 10-2 (6-2) inaugural season in the SEC, complete with a road victory over the #1 team in the land, and our quarterback is first freshman winner of the Heisman trophy and a college football folk hero. We have a Top 10 ranking and multiple high profile recruits heading up a monster class. YESSIR, everything this season has gone better than anyone could have expected, but the season is not over.
This year's Cotton Bowl is arguably the best bowl matchup outside of the National Championship game. We have the Heisman Trophy winner. We have two top 10 teams. We have Gus Johnson. We have a captive national audience. A convincing win over a top 10 Oklahoma team would cement Texas A&M's meteoric rise into college football's elite. The stakes could not be higher.
So if you're like me and couldn't afford the $500 cost of admission, come on in and follow the game on GBH tonight while listening to the bombastic tones of Gus. Let's cheer on our beloved Aggies as they cap this incredible season with a dismantling of our former conference rival.
