Damn Aggies and their flagrant recruiting violatio…… oh crap, its legal!

Apparently, we just can't stop doing things like this…. From the Dallas Morning News:

Ogbuehi went as far as to tell Feldman that he probably wouldn’t have returned to Texas A&M had the school not been able to cover the policy. The premium for Ogbuehi is upwards of $50,000, something his parents wouldn’t have been able to cover.

Using a little-known NCAA rule, A&M was allowed to cover the cost, and Ogbuehi hasn’t been the only one the school has done it for.

"The loss-of-value policy is something that we’ve utilized for a while," Texas A&M coach Kevin Sumlin said before speaking the Texas A&M Dallas Club’s Coach’s Night. "For kids who are trying to make the decision on whether they are going to come back for their junior year, we have had those conversations with a number of players over the past couple of years to give them the options of not having to come out. If it’s a financial decision, what is that decision? Does that decision mean you have to leave now?

"Can you play your way up into a different situation like Jake Matthews did, from late first rounder to early first rounder, which is a significant amount of money difference that you can’t make up with this system’s signing bonuses. There needed to be some protection."

He was asked how often the school has used the policy over the past couple of years.

"Only when we need to," he said.

I just loved reading this. What a great thing for a program to be able to do.
