The Senior Spotlight series plows on with another great Aggie receiver
Dr. Norris Camacho highlighted earlier the four year contributions of a great Aggie wide receiver and play maker in Kenric McNeal. Another key receiver in this senior class has been Uzoma "EZ" Nwachukwu. EZ made a huge impact as a true freshman in Coach Sherman's offense and continued his steady, solid production all the way through this year's Cotton Bowl. EZ is renowned as a fantastic teammate and Aggie. He is also wildly hilarious as the followers of his Twitter account @7sbackkkTX know well.
As a freshman, EZ was an honorable mention All-Big 12 selection and was named to collegefootballnews.com's Freshman All-America third team. He led the wideouts with 708 yards on 40 catches while pulling in six grabs for TDs. He tied a school record with three 100+ yard performances. EZ jumped on the scene as a true freshman when he scored four touchdowns on four touches versus Utah State.
The sophomore campaign began with being named to the Biletnikoff Award's watch list, and EZ churned out 36 catches for 407 yards and four touchdowns. As a junior, EZ set his career best in catches with 50 while adding 639 yards and two touchdowns.
EZ capped his great Aggie career with a senior year where he started all 13 games, caught 26 balls for 485 yards, and set a personal best in touchdowns with seven - second only to Ryan Swope who had eight.
From a fan's perspective, it was a joy to watch the motor EZ played with - it was like watching someone who truly loves playing the game of football. His blocking at the wide receiver position was exceptional and kept many big plays alive for his teammates. To put his career in proper perspective, EZ is one of only four Aggies with more than 120 catches, 1500 yards, and 10 TDs in his career. That puts him in the company of Terrence Murphy, Jeff Fuller, and Ryan Swope.
Gig ‘em, EZ. You were a helluva lot of fun to watch and you weathered the program's rollercoaster seasons with a smile and relentless effort.
2013 Cotton Bowl. It may not have been the biggest play of his career, but EZ's touchdown catch and emotional release afterward was a perfect exclamation point on a wild, unbelievable season. It couldn't have been more fitting. Scroll to the 1:40 mark in the video.
