A little bit more football, while we can.

Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

Let's linger on one of the more memorable bunch of seniors we've had in a while.

The outlook for Aggie Football was less than outstanding in the Spring of 2009 when these seniors committed to play football for Texas A&M. Mike Sherman was coming off a brutalizing first season, and really needed to somehow prove himself as a recruiter (with no experience as a college head coach in recruiting) to build confidence in the program. It's safe to say that he hit a home run his first time out with this class.

It was a solid enough class on paper, but more importantly, it was a dependable class. A large percentage of these commits would start seeing playing time immediately and contribute steadily over four seasons. They would be the first class to go to four consecutive bowl games in eleven years. And they would be the keystone to the first Aggie team to win bowl games in back-to-back seasons since 1940. Yes, you read that correctly.

They stepped up to contribute to the offensive juggernauts of 2009 and 2010 and many were key players in the defensive resurgence of 2010. After a rough 2011 year, they capped it off with our first bowl win in a decade under an interim coach. They won us over as fans with their passionate play, leadership, and love for the school, and they led this program into a new era this season with a most memorable SEC debut.

That's why we're going to spend the next few weeks spotlighting the seniors of 2012. We wanted one last chance to share our favorite memories of these guys, and want you to do the same. The first installment will be along this afternoon.
